WORKSHOP
Catia Gatelli (Italy)

.................................................................................

Catia Gatellis workshop explores the body of an actor, not in the sense of what can be seen on the stage 15.000 cm2 of skin, 604 possible body positions, bodies as telegraphs of gestures and intonations making speech understandable, actors as instruments or interpreters, actors as parts of the whole but rather, as a place where it all happens. Her work and research are aimed at understanding the act of performing as awareness of the body - feeling of what is hidden under the skin; the pulsations of the flesh, of each organ; the feeling of the unnamed body, hidden body; blood circulating the veins, reviving, speaking

Catia Gatelli, a sociologist by education, is one of the founders of the Mask Theatre (1993) where she has worked as a director and performer since the very beginning. The work of the Mask Theatre is primarily aimed at translating of theoretical-visual achievements in contemporary art into the language of dramaturgy.
