Impressions of INFANT 2012 – The Perpetuum Dance Company

Svetlana Đurović (choreographer and director): ‘INFANT is one of those festivals which provide the environment for the sustainability of alternative theatre companies. We always encounter problems with the set when we travel, not to mention financial problems, but the situation at INFANT is completely different. Here, a well done project can get its deserved attention. It is very difficult to reach the kind of audience interested in this kind of theatre, but this is our third year at INFANT and we are always equally surprised by the audience numbers. The atmosphere is fantastic.

Ranko Lasica (organiser): ‘INFANT has the best and the most professional organisation, compared to the similar festivals in our country. We have appeared, as a company, at a number of festivals around the world, and I can say that at INFANT everything is as it is supposed to be. Thing have been done very professionally for many years here, this is our third time to take part in the festival, so we are not surprised by the level of quality and professionalism. INFANT is also a place which offers many opportunities to the troupes outside of the mainstream. The participation is listed into the troupe’s CV; selectors from the other festivals come to see us, to see the audience’s response; critics evaluate our work; there is a particular kind of people who you can interact with in different ways. All this is quite beneficial for a further development of choreographers, dancers, actors and troupes as wholes. We are very satisfied with the contacts we have established at this year’s INFANT. Everyone is struggling for their own piece of happiness.
