DENES DEBREI, actor, dancer, director and choreographer

Born in Horgoš in 1961, Denes Debrei graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Section of Acting, in 1985. Between 1985 and 1989 he worked at the National Theatre in Subotica. He also played in domestic film productions and Serbian-Hungarian-Slovenian co-productions. Since 1989 he has been collaborating with Josef Nagy at the Centre Chorégraphique National of Orléans (France). In cooperation with Min Tanaka (Japan), which commenced in 2000, he appeared in the play Smiling in the Forest, staged in Tokyo in 2004. As a director and choreographer he has realised a number of productions on stages of Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France and Japan. In 2006 Denes Debrei received Sterija’s Award for Choreography for the production ‘Ema’ of the National Theatre in Subotica.

In the academic 2011/2012 he has been engaged at the Section of Acting, Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, teaching Acting Skills.
