The play “Imago Sonus”, produced by the theatre troupe “Summer Cinema” Theatre Association (Nyári Mozi Színházi Közösség), is based on the synthesis of dance, visual art and music. It took several years of preparatory work for the play to reach its final and wrapped up form. The workshops titled Fantasies in Pictures were held with the contribution of eminent fine artists, musicians, dancers and actors, as well as other kinds of performers interested in this topic, among whom there were art historians, writers, poets and performance artists. The entire process has been shaped into an integral theatrical play under the name Imago Sonus.
The main motive of the play is continuity, and in this context the power of expressing a story realised in a moment, the formation of an image, the formation of an image of the past, anecdotes, predesigned choreographies based on real-life events, as well as movements and dance resulting from the immediate impetus, and all of that to the accompaniment of improvised music.
From one performance to the other, a new original picture appears in the set design. For this purpose, on each occasion, we invite visual artists who create a 280 x 350 cm picture several days before the performance. The picture is created in the presence of dancers, who follow the movements of the artist’s hands. The visual work of art plays an important role in the play, due to the fact that the picture appears as a new element, from show to show, being developed on the floor that serves as a ‘canvas’, prepared in advance, being created by dancers’ steps and movements, in correlation and interaction with new improvised music.

The Summer Cinema is non-governmental, non-profit organisation, formally founded as an association in 2001, with the aim of creating contemporary values associated with the theatre and the cinema (mainly movement and dance), and to distribute them focusing on man and the body, primarily in the sphere of his social being and development, in a way the region lacks, at the same time creating a comprehensive and diverse multi-cultural environment, a cultural space supportive of personal and social developmental processes, which is a fundamental need for open-mindedness and undoubtedly contributes to Europeanisation and/or a commitment to the development of a European spirit. The members of the Summer Cinema used to organise international workshops entitled Body and Dance, active dance courses, and public lectures in modern dance, led by famous and highly educated visiting professionals. The participants of the workshops were mainly young dancers who sought to perfect their skills, occasionally forming groups of 30-40 members, in the following approximate proportions: 15-20 people from the territory of Serbia and Hungary, 15-20 people from the Western European countries (the Netherlands, England, Belgium, France), Australia. The founders of the Summer Cinema Citizens’ Association, due to their professional competence, during the Yugoslav crisis, found engagement in traditional theatres or dance troupes throughout Europe and Hungary, as dancers, actors, choreographers or directors. They have established numerous collaborations with world-renowned names and eminent masters.
